Celery Juice to Start the Day

Image
I am reading a book called The Medical Medium by Anthony William.  One idea that is catching on with the raw food community is to start your day with plain celery juice.  Celery juice will be of benefit to anyone dealing with shingles, autoimmune, or mystery illness.  You can see a difference within a week.  Here is the link to more information about the benefits of celery juice on the Medical Medium blog.  You can also follow Medical Medium on Facebook. http://www.medicalmedium.com/blog/celery-juice Buy the book here: Medical-Medium-Secrets-Chronic-Mystery Werener Kollath was a German bacteriologist, hygienist, and food scientist who was a pioneer in the whole foods movement.  Kollath was a member of the Nazi party so he lost his position as the dean of the faculty of medicine after the war but was able to keep his position with the commission and served in the Soviet occupation zone. His research after the end of World War II found that a diet that ...

Raw Food is Important

Image
Raw food is an important part of our diet. I venture to say, the more raw food, the better.  People originally lived in tropical climates and ate the foods that were abundant in that climate. As people moved to temperate and colder climates, man began to use fire to cook his food.  It can be argued that this was harmful to his health. The pioneers in Natural Hygiene recognized that eating as much raw food as possible was beneficial to themselves and their clients.  Just like now, the medical profession and people that loved gourmet foods looked down on the simple, natural diet.  Even today, we hear people refer to a healthy diet as "rabbit food". The raw food diet is considered to be a modern day movement, but we can look back in history and find records of people that advocated a diet similar to what Natural Hygienists teach today. In my Lifestyle Consultants course we learned that 5000 years ago there was a prophet in Persia named Zoroaster who taught his follo...

Even when it seems like you are getting worse, you are getting better when you are doing the right thing. So don't be afraid to do the right thing. We have to be patient, as the healing does not take place overnight. For most of us we didn't...

A Life of Abundance

Image
I am going through a bit of a healing crisis which is to be expected from time to time as the body makes every effort to eliminate backed up waste matter.  Elimination is one of the major factors in living in health.  That's why clean eating is so important. We don't want the waste to accumulate faster than the elimination process can work, otherwise, you are being set up for chronic illness.  That is also the reason we are so opposed to the suppression of these healing symptoms. Food prep:   Lemongrass tea. Juice for two using 5 apples and 1 pear. Fruit smoothie for lunch : 2 bananas, 1/4 cup ground flaxseed, 1/4 pineapple, 1/4 papaya, 1 cup frozen wild blueberries, 6 big strawberries, water. Salad for dinner: (romaine, broccoli, cauliflower, red bell pepper, onion, radish, tomatoes) Lunch: Fruit smoothie; almonds; appple/pear juice; almonds; lemongrass tea Dinner:  Leftover green lava from yesterday; salad Grocery haul today. ...

Authentic Food

The times in my life when I have been successful in staying totally raw for long periods of time have been the times when the foods were prepared quite simply with no flavor enhancements. It seems to me that the more I try to make the raw foods look like or taste like the foods everyone else is eating, the more difficult it is to be consistent. I also find that preparing the raw food recipes in that way leads to much waste of food, as the recipes are not simple, raw and natu ral nor are they the food everyone else is eating. They are not authentic. Yesterday, I started the day with lemongrass tea. Food prep today. I made Dr. Fielder's recipe called Green Lava to eat with my salad at dinner. I made the Green Lava with 1 tomato, several stalks of celery, 3 Tbsp sauerkraut, and about 1/3 of a bunch of parsley blended in the high speed blender. A food processor would work, also. Made apple juice using 6 apples - juice for two. I added some chopped up cauliflower and pell pepp...

You Were Made to Stand Out

This morning I pulled out my journal from the five months I interned at the Clohesy River Health Farm in Kuranda, Australia, under the tutelage of Dr. John Fielder.  It was a time of no distractions, everything needed, and nothing not needed.  Sometimes when I walk in the morning when all is quiet, I can feel the spirit of that place.  This year, in 2017, I want to make room for that feeling to be present more and more. It is easy to make compromises while trying to fit in in with the environment...the culture.  At least it is for me. Just a little bit here...and a little bit there...so as not to be different.  The first thing you know, I have lost the very thing that makes me unique and interesting.  No one admires us for fitting in.  I saw a billboard one time that said, "You weren't made to fit it; you were made to stand out". It is the time of year when we choose again whether it is more important to fit in or stand out.  Right now, toda...
