Coming Home

Image
Today is my seventh day back on all raw foods.  It feels like a homecoming.  This past year has been a difficult one, health wise, which led me to experiment with different diets, but I could not get to the place where I felt good.  I felt like raw foods were not working for me any more until I realized it had been quite some time since I had even been totally raw, so seven days ago I began juicing and calling on Dan McDonald's YouTube videos for inspiration.  I like Dan, The Life Regenerator, because he understands the importance of fats and fasting.  There is so much information out there now about the importance of fats and brain health, so I want to be mindful of that. On my birthday, in twelve days, I will be 71 years old!.  How well can a septuagenarian recover and regenerate on raw foods.  We are going to find out! My plan is simple.  I plan to share my daily food, as a record, but it will be the same every day for the most part with...

Low Fat Raw Vegan Diet

Image
Based on my experience, our best shot for optimum health in the climate and culture in which we are living is the high carb low fat raw vegan diet in conjunction with a simple, natural, biogenic lifestyle that harmonizes with natural law. It is my desire to help people by sharing the diet and lifestyle that helped me lose 40 lbs. and to heal from an undiagnosed debilitating condition that left me making multiple trips to the emergency room and doctor's office. I was at the point of not being able to function and had almost given up hope of every being able to recover.  I was almost bed-ridden. I have been eleven years on this quest for health via natural living, diet, and raw foods. My plan is to share even more lifestyle tips, exercise tips, and recipes.  I was 58 years old when I began this journey, and I am 69 years old now. It has not been a straight path, because I have stumbled many times, but, nevertheless, I am still here, still standing, and determined to carry on...

Detoxifying

The 5K training is still going well.  Yesterday, again, I ran and walked in intervals which included a total of 8 minutes running.  Lucy sees to it that I get in a few extra running minutes because after I walk her up the road she takes off lickity-split back towards the house once we make the turn to come home.  I run as fast as I can to keep from holding her back too much on the leash, but I can't keep up with her. We had a good time yesterday going to garage sales and estate sales.  We found a set of china, some Japanese tea sets, and a couple of books we can put in our E bay store.  We found some items we can use, too....a blue fruit bowl for $6.00, three candles for the coffee table for $8.00, a decorative box for $5.00, a lawn chair for me to sit in the garage with Travis for $3.00, a pitchfork for $4.00, a large ball of twine for $2.00, a some free pencils. Lunch yesterday was fruit smoothies made with peaches, apple, orange juice, kiwi, papaya, dates...

Setting Boundaries.

Image
It is good to be getting back into my routine. I don't want to be trapped into a box of programmed thinking where I am afraid to even consider ideas that are strange to me.  There is always the chance that I might learn something that will free me to live closer to reality.  But when it comes to living in harmony with Universal Law and the Laws of Nature, we are wise to make a plan and then live within the boundaries we set up for ourselves.  The only way out of the  matrix of the programming is by using our intelligence and our will power.  So we need a plan and the discipline to stick to it until we can develop a new set of references. There is always an event...a holiday...a celebration...to tempt us to conform to someone else's idea of what is best for us.  Our choice is to either make an excuse or to empower ourselves to be different and follow our plan for optimal health. My two steps forward one step back progression on my health journey has to...

Knowledge is Power

Image
One of the principles of living your best life is to make your surroundings as beautiful as you can. We made an offer on a nice wrought iron patio set yesterday at an estate sale  We have had some cheap green plastic Adirondack chairs and a green plastic table on our lower deck for a couple of years, and they were nice and looked pretty, but every time the wind would blow they would end up out in the woods.  The last storm demolished them to the point we have one chair left.  The umbrella ended up in a tree!  The estate sale people called yesterday evening and informed us that we won the bid, so we will be going to pick up our new patio set this morning.  Our lower deck will once again be a nice place to sit and enjoy the beauty of our surroundings. A tip for a snack while traveling.  You can buy chia seeds at Walmart or your grocery store in small packs or in larger packages.  You can also buy pomegranate juice.  Put your water in a large cup, ...

Day 57 on All Raw Biogenic Living:

Image
Day 57 on All Raw Biogenic Living: We arrived home shortly after midnight after driving all day from Cocoa Beach, FL to Hot Springs Village, AR.  We had a few days of spring break vacation with our daughter, grand-daughter, and her friend.  I was able to eat all raw foods, but I wouldn't call the trip biogenic living.  Even though Disney World was too noisy, I got sunburned, and we stayed up past midnight, it was worth it to experience this trip with these precious ones.   At Cocoa Beach we shopped until we dropped, and I got sunburned even more, but again it was worth it  We decided to drive straight through coming home rather than spend the night in another motel,  so we drove about 17 hours and arrived at home shortly after midnight.  Maybe I won't ever travel again.  At least until we leave for California next Wednesday.  Our little dog, Lucy, made the trip with us.  She is exhausted today, too. We ate our picnic lunch at a res...

The Right Amount of Tension Produces Music!

Image
I bought groceries at Walmart and spent $128.59.  There are a few items that I personally will not eat, but this is for the household.  This total also included two packages of chicken strips to dehydrate for Lucy.  So far she is liking the dehydrated chicken...since she would not eat the vegetarian dog food I made we are trying the raw chicken approach.  She is eating it pretty good.  I marinated it in Yacon syrup, lemon juice, and Italian seasoning and then dehydrated it overnight. Tomorrow the Hot Springs Village Raw Food Group meets for our monthly potluck at our house.  I watched some Fully Raw Kristina videos to get some recipe ideas and decided to make Raw Vegan Tabbouleh, Vegan Ranch Dressing, Carrot Bacon, Raspberry Coconut Lemonade, and Creamy Lemon Garlic Pasta Alfredo.  Everyone is welcome to our potlucks.  Message me if you want to come.  Each person attending must bring a raw food dish to share or pay $5.00.  We may hav...

Meditation is the Center Point

Image
Toasting with kombucha at our raw foods potluck. The bio-photons in the food are small units of life that have information for your cells that won't be found anywhere else.  This is the fire that cooks your food in the proper way and will awaken your intuition and open pathways of healing. When I was ill, Dr. John Fielder, my biogenic lifestyle teacher, gave me a short list of things to do if I wanted to get well.  They were: eat only raw foods, drink only water, access fresh air and sunlight every day, exercise by walking every day if  possible, remove all forms of stress, meditate positively expecting healing and full recover. The meditation practice is the center point of this protocol because it requires a discipline, commitment, and intention that anchors the other practices.   All you do will come out from that place. Branching off of that you have on the one hand what you take in (diet, information, revelation, environment), and on the other ha...

Autoimmune Healing

Image
Let's talk about healing autoimmune disorders.  Low fat vegan is the best way to heal any disease. If your experience is like mine, you grew up eating hot dogs, boxed cereal, grilled cheese sandwiches, and such. In my family, we got Shipley's donuts every Sunday and had Fizzies to drink with our meals.  I loved them, but I don't think they loved me back.    Fizzies Drink I have detested milk since I was 8 months old, so I dodged that bullet. My mother loved to cook, so we had the pleasure of her wonderful cooking...always with white Wonder Bread as an accompaniment. Even as a child, my body was reacting to this diet. When I was nine years old, I was in the hospital with something that some called pneumonia and some called consumption.  I was sick for a whole summer and was given massive doses of antibiotics.  My body would erupt with boils which we called risons, and once with a carbuncle on my lip. During my teen years, I had other dietary issu...

The Techniques of a Healthy Life

When you receive messages from two different sources within five minutes of each other do you stop and listen?  That happened to me recently. The message was, "The Lord will provide".  It is true.  Our job is to stay in harmony so we can hear what's being given to us.  Be still and KNOW.  That's what the biogenic lifestyle is all about.  It meshes perfectly with my faith.  It separates us from what is false and brings us face to face with what is real and lasting.  I am happy that this is my path.  I love my life...twitches and all.  The truth is comforting.  Anything that causes fear to rise up in you is FALSE, no matter who says it. It is important that we learn the techniques of a healthy life and the practices that prevent illness.  90% of the population is sick and having their lives shortened. We can help ourselves by taking charge of our own well-being by doing a few simple things.  Here is a partial list. 1. ...

Peace

Image
The word of the day is peace. It keeps showing up before me in the most beautiful ways.  Karl brought me a poster made by his daughter....the message was on my tea bag as I prepared my tea, and again a Facebook friend had put the symbol of peace, a dove with an olive branch, on her facebook profile page. No matter what is going on "out there", I want to keep my personal space peaceful. That is the purpose of the food and the healthy lifestyle. It is my way of creating harmony with all around me.  There is no war against animals, or viruses, or bacteria, or so-called enemies.  It's all about working on myself in order to be able to love others. This poster was created by Jessica Christy Jones from Little Rock, Arkansas. Today is the 5th day of mostly liquids. Juices and smoothies, and warm herbal teas. Traditional Medicinal makes a tea called Everyday Detox that I like. There were a few rough days, but not it is getting easier and easier.  Last night I nurtur...

Still Learning to Eat

Image
We leave for the beach early in the morning!  Today I must pack!  I hope to connect with my cousin, Gaylon, while we are in Panama City and get in some good cousin/girlfriend time.  Surely there will also be time for the farmer's market as well as getting in some sun, earth, and water time. Travis and I want to get rid of some of our "stuff" when we get back from the beach.  Is it feasible to get rid of half?  We plan to have a garage sale and then donate what does not sell.  Our garage sale is planned for August 23-24.  Clearing out makes room for more abundance to come in!  By abundance, I do not mean necessarily more "stuff". Travis had a day with our friend, Karl Hochradel, yesterday.  He sent a paper home with Travis that he compiled regarding competencies in building community.  I have a lot to learn in that area, so I read it carefully.  It started off with..."One of the most important elements of developing community in...

Committed to Practice

Image
Practicing well requires a commitment.  My friend Mari wrote today that our health depends on our lifestyle, and diet is part of the lifestyle.  A healthy lifestyle will not just happen by accident so it requires a practice to help hold us steady as we go against the grain of society. There is still somewhat of a gap between what I say I want to do and what I actually do.  Keep in mind that what we do is a better indicator of our true desires than what we say. The right practice helps achieve balance, simplicity and joy because it focuses on the true desires and not just the ideals.  The practice is useful not because it makes us perfect, but because it helps protect us from being influenced by outside pressures. It helps to have the best mentors possible.  My mentor is Dr. John Fielder and he lives the simple, raw and natural lifestyle as perfectly as anyone in the world.  So much of what I have learned from him has become part of who I am.  His ...

Avoid All Negative Stress

Image
I made juices on Sunday morning.  Looks like Easter. I watched a John Kohler video yesterday about how he saves $1000 a month on his fresh produce.  Every month he drives four hours to the Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Terminal where he fills up his vehicle with boxes of fresh produce.  While that is not an option for me, there were some good ideas that make sense for getting the most out of my food dollar. My best option will be to shop at my Walmart and Food Wise, maybe start checking out Sam's club, and shopping the farmer's market.  My favorite takeaway points from the video were:  - Go through the berries or other produce when you get home and remove any that are bad or starting to go bad - Check the fruit and veggies every day - Whatever is about to go bad is what you eat that day - If more of the produce is about to go bad than you can eat today then either freeze it, juice it, or dehydrate it. The subject of biophotons is one that I want to...

Detoxify the Body and Heal the Heart

Image
I am enjoying still being on mostly liquids here at my mountaintop home.  It's been amazing, with a few ups and downs, but nevertheless, still juicy and sweet.  It's beautiful, and I am happy.   The best part is the beautiful people in my life. I took my grandson, Connor, on a birthday shopping trip last Saturday, and he said, "You know the best present is friends and family".  That sums it up, doesn't it? Juice fasting can serve more than one purpose, You can start out juice fasting because you want to lose weight or detoxify, but fasting also brings emotional issues to the surface to be dealt with. There are lessons to learn and forgiveness to experience.  Healing must take place on different levels. It truly is amazing.  You may start out to heal your body and end up healing your heart. I love to be around people that are working on themselves and trying to heal.  You want to hug them and take care of them and let them know they are safe with...
