Imperfectly Raw Day 26, Monday, 9/13/21

Imperfectly Raw Day 26, Monday, 9/13/21

Coffee to start the day.

I had to improvise on my juice this morning.  I had a recipe for a liver friendly juice that called for 4 apples, 2 beets, a bunch of dandelion greens, 1 lemon and 2' turmeric.  My Walmart did not have beets or dandelion greens or turmeric so this is what I did.

I juiced 8 collard leaves 4 apples,  and 1 lemon.  After I strained the juice, I added 1 Tbsp liquid turmeric and 1 tsp of Free-Liver, a liver cleansing supplement from Markus Rothkranz that I had on hand.  Then I added water up to the 3-1/2 cup line and whisked it all together.  This was divided into two, one for me and one for Travis.   You have to be hardcore.  The supplement does not taste too good.  It's not horrible, but it would have been better with the beets.

I made protein smoothies for two for our lunch using 4 bananas, 1/2 cup walnuts, 4 dates, 2 tsp cinnamon, and 2 servings of protein powder.  I used Better Body Foods Organic Plant Protein which I have  had on hand for quite some time. These were good.

I made a raw carrot soup to serve at dinner.  I ate this with the whole grain chips.  I have enough to serve at raw foods on Wednesday, too.   Here's the recipe:

Carrot Soup - 2 cups carrot juice, 1 red pepper, 1 avocado, 1 clove garlic, juice of a lime, 1/2 tsp salt. (I did not have a ripe avocado, so I used 2 Tbsp flax oil.)

My friend, Linda, is helping me spruce up my living/dining area.  She came over today with a new light fixture she selected for our living room!  I like it, but now we need to put it together and find someone to hang it for us.  Right now, it is still in the box.

I made a fresh batch of goodie balls.  I will serve them at our raw foods potluck on Wednesday and I will use them for snacks and dessert.

Dinner tonight was:  Carrot Soup, Cabbage and Carrot Slaw, Whole Grain Chips, Baked Potato and Water.  The Cabbage and Carrot Slaw is good.  Here is the recipe.  It's easy.

Cabbage and Carrot Slaw:  2 cups shredded cabbage, 1 cup shredded cabbage, 1 cup chopped celery, 1/2 cup almonds, 1 tsp poppy seeds, 1 tsp basil.

The dressing for the slaw:  1//4 cup apple cider vinegar, 2 Tbsp honey, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp or less cayenne, 1 tsp garlic powder.  Whisk together and pour over the slaw.

Travis and I watched the news on PBS NewsHour and had blueberry green tea.  I had kombucha and water, too.  I am coughing quite a lot today.

xoxo Janis
